Glossary: Small, Fast or Multi-Track Claims

A dispute that goes through the Civil Courts may be classified as a small , fast or multi-track claim.

A small track claim will be heard by a single District judge in a County Court, and is generally a claim not exceeding a value of £5000.

A fast track claim will be heard by a single Circuit judge in a County Court, and is usually claims of value between £5000 and £25,000*.

A multi-track claim will usually be heard by a High Court judge in a high Court, and is for more complex or challenging cases and claims of a value higher than £25,000*.
