iPad – The new Apple Toy

340xWell, it has finally been announced, and I’m not sure most people are entirely happy about it! There has been such hype about this product for so long now, that people’s ideas about what it should be have blown way out of proportion, and as a result the product has not met many people’s expectations.

The two main problems I have with it is the name – I was praying it would be called the iSlate – the iSlate sounds sexy – the iPad sounds boring and like some sort of female sanitary device:

Plus the name looks a little too similar to iPod – could easily get mixed up me thinks!

Another big problem I have with it is the way Safari can’t handle flash. On the iPod Touch and the iPhone the browser isn’t a full version – which you can accept – you won’t be doing a huge amount of browsing on an iPhone. But on a product where one of it’s primary functions is to browse, you would think that they would have put the full version of Safari on it – grrr!!

There are loads of articles out there now with things people hate about this product, most of which I don’t think really warrant being pissed about.jeanlucwithstarfleeppadd

Anyway, none of this means I won’t buy one – I’ll just buy the cheapest wifi model and upgrade in a couple of years time to the 3G model, when hopefully the device itself willbe better, and so will the 3G networks. I just wanna pretend like I’m Captain Picard – prodding away at my little touchscreen clipboard thing! God I’m so sad!!

I keep thinking they’re gonna say – ” Ha ha – you thought we were gonna call it the iPad – we’re kidding – it’s gonna be the iSlate!”.  hmmmmmm…wishful thinking :(
