Personal Development
I have spent the last 24 hours thinking about creating a personal development blog; thinking about the name and branding, what sort of posts I would write for it; the amazing huge plans I have. But then I realised that I was putting so much thought into how I wanted to do it, I wasn’t getting on and getting any of it done. I was analysing and thinking and planning, but there was no action – no doing…of anything!
So I have decided to scrap the whole idea, and just write the posts on here, like I had originally intended for this website. My website is about me – the personal me and my development through life. So it kinda makes sense that I do it this way.
I have just read a post from Steve Pavlina – How You Give Your Power Away. He talks about giving your power to the barriers that keep you away from what you really want, instead of looking past your barriers and putting that power into the thing you want. Once you are on a roll those barriers will help your momentum instead of slowing you down. This resonates with me – I know I am always putting barriers in the way of things that are too scary or beyond me – at least they are in my head. I highly recommend Steve’s post – in fact…here it is again – How You Give Your Power Away.
So, starting tomorrow, I’m going to feed my power into the things I want. I’m going to make a list of things I want and write down the reasons that I think I can’t do them. Then I’m gonna cross ‘em out and say “That’s Crap!”.
I’ll let you know how I get on in the morning!
